Ford Motor Company, LG Energy Solution, and Koç Holding agreed to build one of the largest commercial electric vehicle battery cell production facilities. The project will be in an organized industrial zone in Başkent, near Ankara.
Production will start in 2026, with the three parties committing to at least 25 GWh of annual production capacity, which could potentially expand up to 45 GWh, supporting Ford’s target of reaching a 2 million+ electric vehicle run rate globally by 2026.
The Turkish steel company Erdemir announced its intention to invest approximately $550 million in the construction of a new plant to produce pellets. The facility is planned to have an annual pellet production capacity of 3 million tons, and aims to produce more than 100 million tons of pellets.
Şişecam establish a second frosted glass furnace and processing line on the same land as the new flat glass line in construction in Mersin, Turkey.
Investment in the project is approximately TRY 3.4 billion ( EUR 185 million). The company aims to be one of the most important renewable energy investment suppliers in the world
The new automotive battery manufacturing plant will be constructed in Gemlik, Bursa province, Türkiye.
The project operator is SIRO, a joint venture between China-based Farasis Energy and Turkish electric car manufacturer Togg. The facility will be located right next to the Togg Technology Campus and begin operation in 2026. The plant will become an integrated center manufacturing Lithium-ion Nickel Manganese Cobalt batteries, modules, and packs.
Petlas is a leading Turkish tire manufacturer, has announced plans to invest $360 million in the construction of a new production facility adjacent to its existing plant in Kırşehir. The new facility is expected to break ground in 2023 and will focus on the production of tires for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles. The new plant will be equipped with state-of-the-art tire production technologies, making it a cutting-edge facility in the industry. The construction is expected to be completed between 2025 and 2026.
Schneider Electric will invest 60 million euro in the expansion of its smart factory in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The project will raise the capacity for manufacture of automated circuit breakers by 30% and add 3,000 sq. m of production space and three new production lines to the plant.
The German automotive supplier Eberspaecher is ground broke a new plant in April 2023.
Production is expected to start in Ruse, Bulgaria, in the beginning of 2024. It will create around 180 jobs this year an expansion up to 500 co-workers, an annual production capacity of around 2.4 million heaters is scheduled beyond 2025.
Bulgarian malt producer Malteries Soufflet will invest €56 million in constructing a new malt plant near the city of Pleven, Bulgaria.
The new malt house will have an annual production capacity of 60,000 tons of malt per year. Production is expected to begin towards the end of 2024 and the plant will be aligned with the latest standards in terms of performance, safety, and energy efficiency.
In May 2023 Nokian Tyres broke ground for the company’s new passenger car tire factory in Oradea, Romania. Commercial tire production in the factory is scheduled to start in 2025.
The annual capacity of the factory will be 6 million tires with expansion potential in the future.
The total investment is estimated to be approximately EUR 650 million.
Romania’s largest cosmetics manufacturer Farmec announced plans to build a new factory in the commune of Apahida, Cluj county of Romania, and relocate its entire production there. The company estimates the total investment at over EUR 40 million.
Construction of the new facility is expected to begin in 2024 and be completed by 2027.
The new facility will be based on state-of-the-art technology with a high degree of automation of the production flow. Solar panels, heat pumps, and other industrial equipment with low energy consumption will be installed at the new factory, as well as modern systems for collecting, treating, and purifying water.
German company AE Solar plans to build a 10GW annual capacity PV panel production facility in Romania, the first stage of the project is scheduled for completion in 2023, under a EUR 1 bln project.
